Our Purpose

The Pt. San Pedro Road corridor in east San Rafael, California is a beautiful region combining a variety of residential communities, a marina and a commercial center. In addition, it includes McNear’s Beach and China Camp State Park.  A wonderful article describing the area and its history was published in the August 2008 issue of the Pacific Sun. The region is composed of areas that are within the city limits of San Rafael, California as well as areas that are under County of Marin jurisdiction.

The Point San Pedro Road Coalition was formed in 1999 initially to protect the local environment, principally inspired by the environmental issues generated by the operations at the San Rafael Rock Quarry. The Coalition subsequently expanded its mission to include an interest in many other issues and events regarding the near- and long-term future of the Point San Pedro Road community.

Coalition Area of Interest

The Coalition’s purpose is to promote the interests of the residents of the Pt. San Pedro Road corridor in east San Rafael, CA in collaboration with residents and neighborhood organizations, to enhance and preserve the beauty and environment of the area, to promote the health and safety of the residents, and to protect the peaceful enjoyment of our residents’ neighborhoods. This objective is accomplished by several means. The Coalition holds community meetings to exchange ideas and concerns and “Meet the Candidates” nights to foster interaction between our residents and our elected officials. Committees are formed with community involvement to deal with specific issues and to work with San Rafael City, Marin County and California agencies. In addition, this website provides the Coalition the ability to disseminate information to, and solicit input from, our residents.

The Pt. San Pedro Road Coalition is approved by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization and by the State of California as a nonprofit corporation and accepts donations in support of its work on behalf of the community.
