On June 22, the SRRQ Amended Surface Mining and Quarrying Permit Initial Study became public. This long-awaited document concludes that the proposed project may have a significant effect on the environment and an EIR is required (however this decision may be appealed if a notice of appeal is filed by June 29, 2007). The scope of issues to be addressed is outlined in the Initial Study. If the County authorizes it, there will be a joint EIR that will include the Amended Quarrying Permit and the Amended Reclamation Plan. The Public will have an opportunity to comment on the scope of issues to be addressed. The report is available as a PDF by clicking on its title above or on-line at the Marin County Community Development Agency's website (listed under 3. Other).

An Environmental Impact Report (EIR) has been determined to be required for the Reclamation Plan for the SRRQ.  That effort is underway with the definition of the scope that the EIR will cover. To that end, public meetings have been held and the Coalition provided input to the County in this area. Coalition wrote a scoping letter to the Marin County Community Development Agency regarding issues surrounding the scope of this EIR.
