Report of the Wetlands Committee
On Tuesday May 4th the following people joined the Wetlands Committee:
David Tattersall, Hal Lauritzen, Trip Allen, Bernard (Pat) Clancy, Raewyn McMains, Steven Cotton, Paul Samuelson and Elise Ganz

At a meeting during which Stewart Siegal of Wetlands and Water Resources advised us of the technical aspects of restoring the Beach Drive Wetland and inlet, it was decided that the following matters should be addressed in an approximate order of priorities, but not of importance.

• Remove the bumps in the channel: Stewart Brown said that he would find out I we needed permits to do this.
• Investigate if the addition of more pipes under Beach Drive would have a worthwhile improvement in the health of the wetland. (While it is bound to result in some improvement this may be minor because the wetland at high tide appears to be less than 2” lower than the inlet; so this may not be a worthwhile expenditure of money and effort at this stage.)
• Raise money to do the studies required to motivate an improvement in the flow in and out of the inlet. This will be very expensive and we will need the support of the Marina, the County and the City. We will need expert technical and legal advice.
