With El Niño conditions driving heightened risk for localized flooding across the area, taking proactive steps to protect your property is essential. Heavy downpours can happen fast and we are already seeing high tides that are more than 2 feet above average, so getting your defense strategy in place now will keep you ahead of the weather.
We want to let our neighbors know about a new pilot program that will deliver sandbags to residents who are unable to acquire them on their own. We also include two local self-serve stations where you can pick up sand and sandbags before the next storm hits.
Pilot Program for Sandbag Delivery
Two AmeriCorps volunteers at he San Rafael Office of Emergency Services are launching a pilot program that will deliver sandbags to residents who are unable to acquire them on their own, and we want to extend this service to your neighborhoods. Whether you yourself need this service or you know someone who would benefit from it, it is their hope to reach as many people as possible in need. Additionally, they are looking for volunteers who would be interested in filling or distributing sandbags. Interested volunteers can fill out the same form, and they will be contacted later with further details.
The flyer below has a QR code and a link that will take participants to an interest survey. The purpose of the form is to gauge interest and does not guarantee sandbag delivery. They will contact interested individuals later with more details about delivery.
