Leslie Blomquist from the City’s Public Works Department has provided an update on the Phase II Repaving of Point San Pedro Road Project.
The City has contracted this work out along with some repaving work on Del Presidio Blvd (near Northgate Mall). The City’s contractor, Ghilotti Brothers Inc., will be starting work on the Del Presidio Blvd and Pt. San Pedro Road Resurfacing project on October 26th. Due to the close proximity of Del Presidio Boulevard to the Northgate Mall, and the fact that we are getting close to holiday shopping seasons, the contractor will be start work on Del Presidio Boulevard and then moving to Pt. San Pedro Road. Work on Pt. San Pedro Road should commence within 2 weeks of the project start date.
The first item of work will be to construct new American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant curb ramps on Point San Pedro Road at the intersections of Marina Bay Park Court, San Marino Drive/Court, and Biscayne Drive. This portion of work includes construction of new sidewalk, curb, gutter, and curb ramps. Following the curb ramp installations, they will grind and resurface the road from Dutra Driveway to Biscayne Drive.
A detailed schedule of work will be posted on the City’s website at http://www.cityofsanrafael.org/pubworks-proj-dppspres and updated on a weekly basis.
To construct the ramps, the Contractor may need to trim or remove vegetation within the City’s right of way. Additionally, any edging material located at the back of sidewalk (i.e. scallop edging or bricks) that is within the limits of the new curb ramp will be removed and reinstalled after the work is complete.
