The Point San Pedro Road Coalition, the City of San Rafael, Marin County and the San Rafael School District invite you to attend a community meeting on Tuesday, June 21 at 7:00 pm in the Multi- Purpose Room at San Pedro School to learn about measures to improve traffic and safety issues on Point San Pedro Road.
This meeting is a follow up meeting to an informational meeting held last October that was sponsored by the Point San Pedro Road Coalition, the City of San Rafael and Marin County for the purpose of discussing a proposed increase in the speed limit for Point San Pedro Road.
As a result of the October meeting, it was agreed that before the City and County would move forward with increasing the speed limit, the Coalition’s Roadway Committee would work with representative groups in the affected communities to see whether some traffic and safety measures could be taken in conjunction with consideration of increasing the speed limits.
The Coalition’s Roadway Committee created two working groups. One was comprised of representatives of Homeowners Associations (HOAs) along Point San Pedro Road and the other Working Group was comprised of San Pedro School professional and support staff.
These two groups met separately and identified a list of Roadway traffic and safety concerns that affected their institution or residents. They also identified possible solutions to address those issues.
The Working Groups then consulted with City and County staff to see which of the immediate solutions could be implemented and tested in the short term and which items would require more study and/ or additional resources.
At this upcoming meeting, we will review the identified Work Group concerns and the solutions that have been implemented to date to improve traffic and safety issues on the Roadway and what additional steps the Working Groups believe should be implemented in the near future.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity for those attending to share their comments and /or ask questions of members of the HOA and School Working Groups as well of staff from the City and County Public Works Departments and the City Police Department.
