Dear Neighbors,
As you probably know, San Rafael’s Bettini Transit Center at 3rd and Hetherton must be relocated to make room for the SMART train tracks which will soon cross through the site as the train is extended to Larkspur. Recognizing that this project will impact residents in our area, members of the Coalition Board have been actively involved in efforts to shape this project into one that improves the experience of train and bus users while minimizing negative traffic impacts.
Our Board members have attended public meeting on the subject as well as meetings with the Golden Gate Transit staff, other local stakeholders and community groups, and have studied the various Transit Concept options presented. Below is a copy of the letter we submitted to the Golden Gate Transit District yesterday with our comments on what we feel is the best option (“Whistlestop Block Concept”) and how it can be improved. We will keep you informed as the process moves forward and there are more opportunities for public input on this important topic.
