On Monday July 15, 2019, the Coalition’s Marina Committee (Committee) met with the S.R. Community Development Department (CDD) and S.R. Dept. of Public Works (DPW) for our regular monthly review of the developments at The Village at Loch Lomond Marina (aka “The Strand”). [NOTE: MVA below refers to Marina Village Associates, the owner and developer of this property.]
The public is encouraged to communicate with the Marina Committee using the Contact the Marina Committee form to raise any issues or concerns so that they may be brought to the City’s attention.
Cove to Marina Pedestrian Path Connection: This is pending other events that must take place first. The Boat Repair Facility must be removed (see item below), the utilities undergrounded in this area and the utility pole removed that blocks the completion of this path.
Fuel Facility & Dock: BCDC is requesting that this work be included in a separate permit amendment (#7) from MVA. MVA has submitted that amendment request along with related plans but BCDC is asking for more information. This will include the inland fuel storage facility, the fuel dock and the required connecting pipeline.
Restaurant/Harbormaster’s Office: MVA still has not applied to renew this expired permit.
Yacht Club Re-facing: The plans for the refacing of the yacht club building to blend with the new architecture has been approved but MVA has not yet submitted a permit request to CDD.
Kayak Dock: The kayak dock design proposed by CDD, yacht club and kayak group has been accepted by MVA. This dock is to be installed between the yacht club building and the boat launch ramp. No permit has yet been requested by MVA.
Flooding on Breakwater Connector & East Jetty (playground): According to BCDC, MVA’s revised Permit Amendment #5 to resolve the flooding issues at these two locations is very near ready for approval. There may be some additional requirements from the Bay Area Water Quality Review Board. This also includes the installation of a kayak launch ramp at the entrance to the connector at the end of the parking lot.
Exterior Lighting on the South and West Faces of Andy’s Market: Most of the lights were physically lowered and the wattage reduced. However, there are still issues regarding the lighting in the trash enclosure and over the delivery doors on the west side. This is been reviewed.
Boat Repair Facility: The demolition permit has been issued and the building is expected to be removed by mid-August. The current MVA plan is to move the temporary Harbormaster’s Office trailer to this location and complete the parking slots where the trailer currently resides to be used by the Yacht Club. The trailer would be removed once the permanent Harbormaster’s Office is built.
Pedestrian Walkway between Andy’s Market and Yacht Club: This walkway was mostly completed. However, the light bollards that are to be installed between the potted palms have not been installed yet and those locations were capped with metal covers.
