On Tuesday, June 8, at 6:00 pm, the Point San Pedro Road Coalition will be presenting a webinar on Point San Pedro Road traffic and safety issues. The County is considering a proposal to reduce the eastbound traffic lanes on Point San Pedro Road from two lanes to one from Loch Lomond Drive to Main Drive. This webinar will focus on an introductory presentation and discussion on this proposal which is intended to provide traffic calming resulting in lower speeds, improved safety for bicycles in that area of the roadway and creating the availability of parking adjacent to the newly renovated Bayside Park.
The Coalition has not yet taken a position (For, Against or Neutral) on this proposal as we are waiting to learn more about it. The Coalition’s role in this event is to provide a community forum where the presenters can review the current situation and the objectives of this proposed change, present their proposal for addressing this issue, discuss the benefits of the changes and then address residents’ concerns in a question-and-answer period.
Dan Dawson, Principal Transportation Planner with the Public Works Department of Marin County will review the proposal, including a discussion of the current situation, talk about the objectives, present the proposed changes, discuss its benefits, and then will address residents’ concerns in a question-and-answer period.
Also at that meeting, Rafat Raie and Lauren Davini from the City of San Rafael’s Public Works Department Traffic Engineering Division will provide an update on the pedestrian crossings on Point Pedro San Pedro Road at Knight, Peacock, and Riviera Drives.
