Please donate NOW to expand and improve emergency supplies for our area!

Through generous contributions to our previous disaster preparedness fundraisers and grants from Marin County, the Point San Pedro Road Coalition purchased medical and rescue supplies and the trailer shown in the photo below.  See the real thing in Andy’s Local Market parking lot in the northwest corner just off Point San Pedro Road!

This mobile unit and another centrally located storage facility contain supplies for our community to use in the event of disasters including fires, earthquakes, and floods.  We are also organizing CERT-trained residents and medical professionals who live on the Pt. San Pedro Road corridor to respond to community disasters and utilize these supplies.

Our corridor is unique in that a single access road extends from San Rafael High School on one end to China Camp on the other. Depending on the type of disaster, the road is likely to become impassable at both ends due to liquefaction, flooding, landslides, and traffic congestion. Our area has only one fire station with limited personnel, and in an area-wide emergency, public resources will be over extended. This would necessitate our community to be self-sufficient for days if not weeks.

The Coalition’s new goal is to raise $10,000 to purchase additional medical supplies, a generator, lighting and shelter materials so that two medical triage stations can be set up in case of emergency depending on the nature and location of the disaster.

We are asking you to please donate NOW! We need to be prepared ahead of time for fire, earthquake, flood or whatever might befall us and need these funds to ensure our ability to cope. We are already seeing record temperatures this summer that could result in the worst fire season in recent years and other disasters can also threaten to cut off our access route.

Using the Point San Pedro Road Coalition’s Donate page, you can contribute online and direct your donation to “Disaster Preparedness”.  Alternatively, mail your check, payable to the Point San Pedro Road Coalition (indicate Disaster Preparedness Fund on your check) to the address on that Donate page.
