Marin Transit Center Update: Draft EIR Available

The following is an announcement from the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District. While your Coalition has not yet read the entire DEIR, we can point out that the preferred location, the “Move Whistlestop Alternative,” is the one we supported during the public review process as a result of feedback from our residents.

“As you know, Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District, in partnership the City of San Rafael, Marin Transit, SMART, and TAM, has been developing plans for a new transit center in San Rafael. The goal is to identify a new transit center site and configuration that will provide for the current and future mobility needs of San Rafael and Marin County residents.

We have undergone a robust community engagement process since February 2018 to ensure the public remains informed.

As of today, August 11, the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) is available to the public for comments. You can find the full document on our website: goldengate.org/SRTC and linked here. The DEIR comment period will be August 11-October 12, 2021.
