Recently, a resident asked Marin Sanitary to clarify what could be recycled versus disposed in the green waste can or gray garbage can. Their response was enlightening and we’d like to share it:
All jugs and jars can go into the recycling container. No flimsy plastics or plastics that have been made into other items such as scoops, forks, spoons knives, buckets, etc. are able to be recycled. This would go into your garbage container. Any type of clam shell fruit container in which strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc. are packaged would go into the garbage container as well. [COALITION NOTE: Marin Sanitary stated that the reason is that China will no longer accept them.]
Marin Sanitary has a great new tool on their website that is called “Where Does It Go, Joe” that lets you type in basically any item that you may have a question about and will let you know what cart it should go into.
If you have any questions please contact the office via phone or email.
