The monthly meeting of the Coalition’s Marina Committee (Committee) with the various agencies and entities involved in The Village at Loch Lomond Marina development was held by Zoom on Monday, November 21, 2022. [NOTE: The October meeting had been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts and the next meeting will be in January.]
The following text references various Village owners, governmental agencies, companies and other entities, often by acronym. A detailed description of these entities can be found on The Village-Who’s Who page.
Following is a summary report on the items covered at this meeting:
Harbormaster’s Office: SHM stated that they are looking at their options for reducing the construction costs as well as reflecting the issues raised by the community and BCDC regarding the entrances to the restroom/laundry facilities being on the public plaza. Meanwhile, SHM plans for this building is on hold until early next year. In addition, since the Harbormaster’s office will be located elsewhere on the property, a name change for this building is being considered.
Yacht Club Refacing: SHM recently repainted the building as a general maintenance task which does not replace the plans for a physical refacing of this building. However, SHM stated that their plans are on hold due to construction costs.
Residential Housing Construction: Trumark Homes stated that there are some delays in obtaining PG&E service connections to the residential homes as PG&E has said they won’t be doing any more electric and gas hook-ups until next quarter. Trumark is proceeding with the buildings currently under construction and expect completion next quarter, but they are pausing construction on the remaining townhomes and single-family homes due to the market downturn as a result of rising interest rates and the downturn of the economy.
Breakwater Connector & East Jetty (playground) Flooding, Kayak Ramp at Connector: MVA stated that work is progressing well on the breakwater connector and kayak launch ramp. The boardwalk is complete, and the path is almost complete. The sheet piling installation is almost complete on the playground jetty and they have started work on the wall caps, ADA ramps, and stairs. Work on the landscaping and irrigation is underway. MVA still feels confident in completing this entire project by year-end. Click here to see some photos of the work in progress.
Kayak Dock (between Yacht Club and Boat Launch Ramp): The dock is completely installed and available to the public (no fees).
Mixed Use Building: MVA continues to market this property but stated that there is a lack of interest in using this parcel as it is currently permitted. There is a likelihood that any new owner will submit a new design for this property which would require a full design review and other processes required by S.R. for a new construction project.
Meeting Schedule: It was decided that these Oversight meetings should occur on a bi-monthly basis rather than monthly at this point given the progress made in many areas but the slowdown in development in other areas. The next meeting will be in January and bi-monthly thereafter.
