The San Rafael Rock Quarry (SRRQ) has submitted an application to the Marin County Department of Public Works (DPW) to amend its approved Conforming Amended Reclamation Plan of 2010 (CARP10) to extend the date to complete mine reclamation activities by 20 years, from December 31, 2024 to December 31, 2044. The proposed rescheduling of reclamation would make CARP10 consistent with SRRQ’s intent to continue mining through approximately 2044, the year that SRRQ now projects that the quarry will reach final reclamation grades.
The Addendum is being circulated for a 30-day period beginning August 9, 2021 and ending September 8, 2021 prior to a Board of Supervisor’s hearing later this fall to be subsequently scheduled and noticed separately. This early review period is being provided as a courtesy to allow interested parties additional time to review and understand the findings of the Addendum before the project is scheduled for a public hearing at the Board of Supervisors.
A more complete summary of this EIR Addendum process can be found on the DPW website along with links to provide comments, questions and input regarding the Addendum. There is also a link to the full EIR Addendum. The initial font size for the latter document is rather small but can be enlarged using the “+” icon if you move your cursor down to the bottom of the screen (you can also download the document there). In addition, the DPW has a page with links to all of the County’s Quarry-related documents.
When the Coalition receives more information regarding this 30-day review period and the scheduling of a public hearing, it will be posted on our website.
