Marin County conducted a Zoom meeting on December 15 to present it’s proposal for a lane reduction from two lanes to one lane plus a parking lane and a dedicated bike lane on Pt. San Pedro Road eastbound between Loch Lomond Drive and Riviera Drive. The County calls this a pilot project, resulting in data collection and determination of actions to follow, including the permanent installation of this configuration. After that meeting, the County posted the following information:
Thank you to the community members who attended the virtual meeting, hosted by Marin County and San Rafael Public Works Departments, on December 15 regarding the roadway modifications related to a Bay Conservation and Development Commission-required (BCDC) bicycle facility along a section of eastern Point San Pedro Road in San Rafael. For those of you who missed the informational meeting or want to revisit the material, here are several resource links:

Note that in that last link’s diagrams, the lane merge actually occurs west of the Loch Lomond Drive signaled intersection. The Pt. San Pedro Road Coalition is considering this information and intends to formulate a response which is expected to be ready early in January. There are several issues and concerns with the plans presented by the County that the Coalition intends to address.
