County Suspends Pt. San Pedro Road Re-striping Proposal

The Point San Pedro Road Coalition and Marin County staff are most appreciative of the comments and input received from area residents regarding the proposal to merge two eastbound lanes of Point San Pedro Road between Loch Lomond Drive and Main Drive. The County, after much deliberation, will table consideration of the proposal at this time while it further coordinates with the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) on a variety of options, including possible support for or a permit exemption to retain parking in front of Bayside Park. A permit exemption could allow parking in front of the Park as existed before the park renovation work began.  The Coalition will work with County staff to achieve this goal.

Prior to this decision, the coalition had held a webinar on this matter with a presentation by Dan Dawson, Principal Transportation Planner, Marin County Department of Public Works. The video of that webinar along with the Q&A’s is available on the Coalition’s YouTube channel. More background on this proposal and its history can be found on a previous posting. The presentation slides used by the County can be seen separately if you scroll down to the end of that posting.

The Coalition will continue to work with County and City staff on issues of traffic and safety along Point San Pedro Road.
