San Rafael Transit Center Relocation Public Meeting March 20, 2018

The Golden Gate Transit District is responsible for the planning of the new San Rafael Transit Center. They are very interested in getting public input on the location and design of the project. They will be holding a public meeting on the project this coming Tuesday, March 20 from 5:30-7:00 PM at Whistlestop, 930 Tamalpais Avenue in San Rafael. I would encourage all interested persons to attend this meeting. There are also a number of ways in which transit center users and area residents can participant in and received information regarding the Transit Center Project. Please see the Transit District’s message below.

Finally,  you can review the San Rafael Transit Center Relocation Guidance Report prepared by the City of San Rafael. The report should be helpful to you in understanding the elements in the design of new transit center.

The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District is starting a multi-year process to develop a new transit center for San Rafael. The current transit center will be affected by the extension of Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) to Larkspur. Several government agencies are partnering to identify a new transit center site and configuration that will provide for the current and future mobility needs of San Rafael and Marin County.

HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF THE SAN RAFAEL TRANSIT CENTER!

We want to hear about your experiences with the current transit center and what you would like to see included in a new transit center. There are a variety of ways to offer input and stay connected:

  • The Golden Gate Bridge District is holding a community open house on Tuesday, March 20, from 5:30-7:00 PM at Whistlestop, 930 Tamalpais Avenue in San Rafael. Whistlestop is located adjacent to the transit center and is accessible by SMART and a number of bus routes.
