The Point San Pedro Road Coalition has been working for the last several years with Marin Transit to provide some form of public transit to serve the Point San Pedro Road Peninsula. I am happy to report that as a first step, Marin Transit has agreed to extend their regular Paratransit Service to Point San Pedro Road Peninsula neighborhoods beginning this month. The Coalition’s Roadway Committee will continue to work with Marin Transit and Golden Gate Transit in pursuing some form of commuter service to serve our Area that would provide transportation to either the San Rafael Downtown Transit Center and/or the Larkspur Ferry Terminal.
I want to acknowledge the help and support of Robert Betts, Planning and Operations Manager for Marin Transit and our County Supervisor Damon Connolly who were instrumental in getting this program implemented in our area. The Coalition will continue to work with them to expand other transportation programs to our neighborhoods.

MARIN TRANSIT MESSAGE ON THE EXTENSION OF IT’S PARATRANSIT PROGRAM
Effective March 5, 2018, Marin Transit is expanding the service area for Marin Access Paratransit to include the neighborhoods of the Point San Pedro Peninsula. Residents living in these neighborhoods who qualify for paratransit service under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will be able to call one to seven days in advance of their requested trip and schedule a ride. The service will be available from 10 am to 2 pm and 4pm to 7 pm on weekdays. On weekends, the service will be available from 8 am to 5 pm. Prior to this change, Marin Access Paratransit only served destinations east of San Pedro School on a case by case basis depending upon availability.
To relieve uncertainties and provide more reliable transportation options for residents, eligible East San Rafael residents will now be served regardless of capacity constraints during the service hours listed above. This change was initiated in response to feedback from the community and made possible by the funding Marin Transit receives through Measure A and Measure B. The Transit District will monitor the results of the expanded service area and continue to look at service expansion efforts to further support mobility on the Point San Pedro Road Peninsula as well as other areas of Marin County currently undeserved by public transit.
