PSPR Infrastructure

The Roadway Committee oversees the condition of infrastructure in our corridor such as paving, signage, sidewalks, curbs, and retaining walls. Responsibility  for these infrastructure items rests with the County and City depending upon within which jurisdiction it is located.

Paving

After the Coalition reached an agreement with the Quarry in 2014, sound-deadening asphalt was paved on Point San Pedro Road. Now, nearly a decade later, the Roadway Committee anticipates forthcoming surface restoration maintenance will be completed by the County, and we plan to collaborate with the County to ensure that repaving work strikes a reasonable balance between cost, and quality.

Sidewalks

Sidewalk maintenance responsibility generally rests with property owners, but the Roadway Committee collaborates with the City and County to ensure proper maintenance. In instances where private property owners fail to maintain the sidewalk in front of their property in a way that creates a safety issue, the Roadway Committee will bring this matter to the attention of the appropriate County or City agency for action.

Signage

Point San Pedro Road features various signs, installed and enforced by the County or City depending on location. The Roadway Committee monitors existing sign location and quality, recommends replacements, and suggests removal or additional signage where needed.

Curbs and Retaining Walls

The Roadway Committee monitors median and sidewalk curbs, reporting damaged or repainting needs to the City or County. There are numerous retaining walls located under County or City jurisdiction, which the Roadway Committee regularly evaluates for maintenance, and makes recommendations for replacement when needed.
