The County has decided to proceed with the proposed Roadway Modification pilot project, which will result in a trial lane reduction so that that there will be only one eastbound lane of traffic on Pt. San Pedro Road between Loch Lomond Drive and Riviera. In an effort to keep our community informed about this important issue, we wanted to make you aware of the information posted by the County on their Point San Pedro Roadway Modification Pilot Project website.
Our role in this and other proposed government projects is to work with County and City staff to provide them with a platform to present project details and to promote and encourage community input, and to identify and communicate to those government agencies issues of concern.
Over the past two years, the Coalition leadership has met with County staff and communicated questions and concerns with regard to the Bayside Park Renovation Project and the Lane Reduction Proposal. These projects have been controversial. Some community members have been pleased with these projects, but many have expressed disappointment and frustration regarding them.
In advance of the County’s announcement that the pilot project would commence, the Coalition submitted a list of concerns to the County regarding the proposed Lane Reduction. Copies of some of our key communications about this project are posted on our website and can be found under Lane Reduction Posts.
Some of the issues we raised with the County have been addressed, however, several issues remain. The Coalition will follow up on these and will be closely monitoring the progress of the pilot program. We will continue to keep you informed.
