The following is an update from Marin County Department of Public Works on the status of the work on Bayside Park:
Bayside Park Improvement Project UPDATE. The construction work at Bayside Park, which was expected to be completed in July, is now targeting substantial completion in August. Due to the current state of emergency drought, Marin County Parks cannot install the turf at this time. During this interim period, mulch will be temporarily placed within the future turf areas to protect against erosion. In partnership with Marin Water, Marin County Parks will determine when it is appropriate to install the turf, which is anticipated to coincide with any future drought relief announcement. The project is considered incomplete until the turf is installed, but the park will be open for use. We’ll announce the soft opening date as soon as it is known. Park adjacent street parking will be available as part of the soft opening of the park. For background, the Bayside Park project is an ADA accessibility project. Due to age and damage from root uplift, the park was no longer code compliant for accessibility. The entire park is being refurbished including grading of many areas of the park, replacement of all paths, benches and trash/recycling receptacles. Nearly all landscaping is being replaced, including new trees that will be placed to prevent future root uplift of paths, and drought tolerant, heavily native plants to better reflect our environment.
