Wetlands Committee Field Trip – Birds of Our Local Wetlands

Bird expert Rusty Scalf will lead a tour of the wetlands around Loch Lomond Marina and Beach Drive. With his vast knowledge, Rusty has fascinating information and insights to share about the different behaviors of our local birdlife. Not to be missed!

Rusty Scalf

Rusty has been teaching bird identification and natural history classes for Golden Gate Audubon since 1990. For over 30 years, he has been active in the Breeding Bird Atlas in California throughout the state. He is currently conducting bird population surveys in Marin County.  Rusty has participated in numerous other surveys, such as, Audubon’s California species specific field survey projects for the Brown Pelican, Long- billed Curlew and Tri-colored Blackbird. He has surveyed Burrowing Owls for the Institute of Bird Populations, as well as participated in the annual Point Blue survey of wintering shorebirds in San Francisco Bay.
