Beautiful new trail is open after nine months of work
As of Thursday, April 9th, the entire Shoreline Trail will be open!
After nine months of hard work, what was once an eroded, rutted, and muddy trail has been replaced by a solid, level, hard-packed surface that is safe for users and environmentally friendly. The trail should be able to withstand all the foot, bike, and horse traffic we China Camp State Park lovers can give it for the next 30+ years.
Many thanks to all of the fantastic partners and volunteers who made this project a huge success. The men and women of the California Conservation Corps (CCC) have done amazing work, and have been great partners on the trail. The local officials of the California Department of Parks and Recreation have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help our volunteer group overcome myriad obstacles, large and small, to get this much-needed work done. Thanks, too, to key behind-the-scenes helpers, such as the Bike Patrol, Visitor Center Staff and Trail Patrol.
This mighty accomplishment represents about 30% of the trail system. A group of volunteers, working with the California Department of Parks and Recreation and the California State Parks Foundation, continues to build on the work of the CCC in order to address areas of erosion and safety hazards on other trail sections. We invite you all to join us on our continuing workdays!
