[NOTE: This construction status report was last updated February 2023. Check the Marina posts for the latest updates.]
Construction of the Loch Lomond Marina project was intended to proceed in major phases. The first phase began in August 2013 and the final completion of the project was expected to be in mid-2017. Due to a variety of delays, the project remains ongoing as of early 2023. Status updates will be posted on the Loch Lomond Marina News page as they become available.
This is a rendering of the final form of The Village at Loch Lomond Marina with all construction completed (click on image for a larger version). The current status remains short of this objective.
As of June 2024 virtually all buildings within the residential area have been built and sold. Remaining to be built as defined in the original permits and entitlements are the multi-use Commercial Building, the so-called Harbormaster’s Office building and the Marina Utility Building (aka Boat Repair Facility).
The final work on the connector to the Breakwater (the Breakwater Access Trail or BAT) and on the east jetty containing the playground to resolve recurrent flooding problems has been completed. Both kayak launch areas (launch dock and launch ramp) are complete and operational.
In summary, the work remaining to be done as of June 2024 to complete the Village at Loch Lomond Marina as defined in the original plans, permits, and entitlements includes:
- The Yacht Club building is to receive a “face lift” to match the new construction surrounding it.
- A new “Harbormaster’s Office” building containing live-aboard boat owners’ restroom/shower facilities and commercial space will be built adjacent to the Yacht Club building and the public plaza. While the actual Harbormaster’s Office has been shifted to the yet-to-be-built Marina Services Building, the name of this building has not been changed for now. This building construction is on indefinite hold by SHM pending economic changes.
- A Marina Services Building to replace the previous boat repair facility is to be constructed at the western edge of the development. It will house the Harbormaster’s Office and marina storage. There will be restroom facilities for the marina staff. They will not be available to the general public. This building construction is on indefinite hold by SHM pending economic changes.
- Commercial/residential building is to be built at the western corner of Loch Lomond Drive and Pt. San Pedro Road — commercial on the first floor and 5 residential condominiums on the second floor. This property is now owned by Andy Bachich who has expressed an intent to make changes to the original plans which have yet to be formally submitted to the S.R. Planning Department.
- A Fuel Storage Facility and Fuel Dock is planned be constructed at some point depending on SHM’s determination of financial feasibility.
