Photos of Work-in-Progress on Breakwater Connector & Playground Jetty

Below are some photos taken of the work in progress on the breakwater access trail (BAT) and the playground jetty in reverse chronological order (latest to oldest). The BAT opened for public access and use on Friday, March 31, 2023. The playground has some additional work needed before it can open.

April 3, 2023: The east jetty/playground is in the final stages of work and should be open to the public in the next month or two.

April 3, 2023: The north end of the playground area on the east jetty.

October 29, 2022: Elevated walkway nearing completion. This will allow tidal water to flow under the walkway to the tidal wetlands.

Sept. 19, 2022: View from the junction of the breakwater connector to the breakwater looking back to the marina. This point in the path was elevated to provide a level access to the eventual boardwalk.

Sept. 19, 2022: A view along that same stretch of the breakwater connector looking in the opposite direction out to the breakwater. You can see the curbs on either side of the decomposed granite path.

Sept. 19, 2022: Further toward the marina but looking in the same direction as the previous view, this are the piers being constructed to support the abutment for the raised boardwalk. This raised boardwalk is there to allow tidal water to flow between the marina basin and the marsh/wetlands without washing over the pathway as it does now during high and king tides.

Sept. 19, 2022: These are the forms to support pouring of concrete for the abutment.

Sept. 19, 2022: This is the kayak launch ramp at the marina end of the breakwater connector which is nearing completion.
