Coalition’s Annual Meeting Notice – November 2, 2019

November 2, 2019
9:30 am to Noon
St. Luke Church
10 Bayview Drive
San Rafael

Our theme for this meeting is Focus on Our Future at which we will discuss three important and timely subjects that directly affect our Pt. San Pedro Road community. Damon Connllly, Marin County Supervisor, 1st District, will introduced these subjects and provide an overview from the Marin County perspective followed by speakers on each subject.

  • San Rafael Rock Quarry Plans: The Quarry has submitted to Marin County a request for extension of their current operations and reclamation to 2044 instead of 2024. Our speaker will be John Edgecomb, PSPR Coalition Attorney, who will speak on the legal issues and ramifications of the Quarry’s request. NOTE: The Coalition’s response to the Quarry’s extension request is posted on our website  at Coalition’s Response to SR Rock Quarry’s Request to Extend their Operating and Reclamation Permits.

  • San Rafael’s General Plan 2040: San Rafael has embarked on an extensive project to develop a vision and plan for the City, extending the current Plan 2020 for an additional 20 years. A committee was formed that includes our co-chair, Bonnie Marmor, to work on that plan. Our speaker will be Barry Miller, S.R. General Plan 2040 General Manager.

  • Disaster Preparedness: Given the threat of wildfires, as well as that of earthquakes and rising sea levels, and building on the Coalition’s highly successful October 12th Disaster Prep Community Leaders meeting, there is a growing momentum for our neighborhoods to address these issues. We will learn about the proposed property tax assessment for a wildfire prevention initiative and the SR Wildfire Prevention Plan. Speakers include Quinn Gardner, S.R. Emergency Manager.

These speakers, and others, will be available to respond your questions. Background information on these subjects can also be found on this website.

  • Refreshments will be provided by Sandy Mahoney of Madison Company Realtors.
