Loch Lomond Marina Update

The monthly meeting of the Coalition’s Marina Committee (Committee) with the various agencies and entities involved in The Village at Loch Lomond Marina development was held by Zoom on Monday, March 21, 2022.

The following text references various Village owners, governmental agencies, companies and other entities, often by acronym. A detailed description of these entities can be found on The Village-Who’s Who page.

Following is a summary report on the items covered by reports at this meeting:

Harbormaster’s Office: SHM reiterated that the final design will take into consideration the views from the public plaza to the marina and bay. The interior footprint for the live-aboard laundry and restroom facilities has been reduced and the space for the commercial use expanded. However, what will occupy that space is undetermined. SHM has stated that they should have some design information available to the public very shortly.

Breakwater Connector & East Jetty (playground) Flooding, Kayak Ramp at Connector: With the final approvals from ACOE, RWQCB, and BCDC to commence construction of the flooding repairs and kayak ramp,  MVA is moving forward. MVA is pre-ordering material and has a contract with Ghilotti Construction. Their plan is to start some construction by April 15 with the core construction from June to November.  The downside here is that once the construction fencing is erected, the breakwater and the playground jetty will be inaccessible until the construction is completed. MVA will be posting signage to this effect shortly.

Kayak Dock (between Yacht Club and Boat Launch Ramp): Similar to the Breakwater Connector status, all the approvals to commence construction for the kayak floating dock have been obtained. MVA has completed the contract with Mid-Cal Construction and has pre-ordered the fabrication and material.  They are working with the contractor to obtain the estimated dates for material fabrication and delivery and are intent on rapidly installing the dock as soon as it is received.

Pt. San Pedro Road Lane Reduction Pilot: This Marin County project affects the marina development in that it proposes to remove the shared bike and parking lane from Loch Lomond Drive to Bayview Drive in favor of a dedicated bike-only lane. This removal of street parking will affect The Strand, especially those residences that border Pt. San Pedro Road. Both The Strand and SHM intend to express their concerns and issues to the Marin Count DPW.

Residential Housing Construction:  Trumark Homes reported that construction is well underway on the four residences for which foundations had already been poured. Framing for foundations is in progress on almost all the stand-alone residences.  Permits for the three townhome buildings are being processed by CDD and are expected to be issued this week.  Construction of the residences are projected to take about 9-11 months apart from the sales office site which will come later.

Mixed Use Building: MVA stated that the parcel map has been completed. MVA is working with Trumark Homes to renew the elapsed sales contract. However, MVA is interested in selling the parcel rather than develop it, so they are open to other buyers as well.
