Bayside Park Improvement Project To Start Week of February 8, 2021

Thank you for your continued interest in Bayside Park.

Activity for the Bayside Park Improvement project is scheduled to begin the week of February 8, 2021. As presented in the Marin County Parks and Open Space Commission Meeting on September 17, 2020, the project is an ADA accessibility effort with the chief goals of making park pathways and amenities universally accessible and preserving the current character and uses of the park.  All landscaping is being conducted under the expertise of Marin County Parks in accordance with regulations and funding allocation, and is not intended as a park redesign.

During the week of February 8, work will be limited to felling of the trees and should be completed by the end of that week. Parts of the park will be closed off as needed to allow crews to safely remove the trees. The rest of the park will remain open the entire time. The stumps of the felled trees will remain in place until they are removed during the next phase of work, which is expected to begin in late April or early May, after the rainy season has come to a close. As stated above, Marin County Parks will replace the removed trees as part of their landscaping plan.

The staggered timing of February’s tree removal and the subsequent park construction phase starting in April/May is intended to expedite the workflow, with the goal of finishing the project by the end of July 2021. This will allow the public to enjoy the rejuvenated park to the fullest extent before the end of summer.

A Nextdoor posting can be found here. The flyer below shows the sign that will be posted in the park before work begins.
